England and Wales continued to conduct a joint competition, with 25 teams from England and 5 teams from Wales. The teams competed across two regional competitions, combining online and in-person, with the top 12 teams progressing to the National competition, hosted by the University of St Mary’s, Twickenham on March 7th 2026.
After 3 exceptionally challenging rounds, the top three placing teams were:
1. Oxford Brookes University
2. University of Reading
3. Swansea University
As a result, Oxford Brookes University and Swansea University have been invited to represent England and Wales respectively.
Following the sad news of the death of the founder of this competition, Sir Geoffrey Bindman, the Committee made the decision to rename the trophy: The Sir Geoffery Bindman KC Cup. We were grateful to Paul O’Neill, CEO of Bindmans Solicitors, who attended the National Competition to make a speech about Sir Geoffrey and to present the newly named trophy to the
winners.

National Representatives for Wales and England
The England & Wales Client Interviewing Competition has been in existence for 40 years since being started by (the now) Sir Geoffrey Bindman KC and Professor Avrom Sherr. Over 30 law schools take part each year with regional and final events being held in February and March. In recent years we have adopted a hybrid mode with some events in person and some online.
The competition is run by a committee of law academics from different law schools. There are three Co-Chairs: Dr Matthew Parry (Swansea University), Johanne Thompson (University of Kent) and Aruna Verma (University of Law). Johanne is the National Representative for England and Matthew is the National Representative for Wales.
The top English and top Welsh teams take part in the international competition. Lexie Stewart and Sara Wideman from Swansea University and Joe Regan and Carolyn Lemens from the University of Sussex represented Wales and England respectively in Lublin in 2024.
